Slopeside Grill

Late Night Food Options in Steamboat Springs

If You’re On The Prowl Passed 10, Here’s Where To Chow:

You’re not in the city anymore. I’m sure most of us Steamboat residents have said this to ourselves a time or two as we struggled to find some sustenance beyond the seemingly universal closing time of 10 pm for most restaurants in town. But if you should find yourself out and about and looking for grub, let me save you some time with a list of restaurants and food stands still serving both during the week and on the weekend. Some even have late-night happy hours to save you money on both food and drink. And though pizza is definitely on the list, it’s not the only game in town.

Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill

Among the culinary leaders in Steamboat, Mahogany Ridge offers a late-night happy hour every night that will fit the bill nicely. It features half-priced appetizers such as fish tacos, shrimp and grits, meat and veggie skewers, pretzels, buffalo fingers and more. If you’re in the mood to wash your meal down with a cocktail or beer, you’ll enjoy $2 beers and half-priced well drinks.

Slopeside Grill

If you’re closer to the mountain, why not stop in for some of Steamboat’s tastiest pizza cooked in a brick oven – at a substantial discount! Slopeside’s happy hour runs from 10 till around midnight every night, and all pizzas are just $7. They’ve recently expanded their tap list, and during happy hour, beers are just three bucks. This makes for a fulfilling end to a long day.

Mazzola’s Italian Diner

Craving pizza downtown? Here’s a gourmet option that’s sure to hit the spot. After 9, this iconic Italian restaurant below the Hotel Bristol serves up hot pizzas and honkin’ calzones the size of your head. Mazzola’s also delivers until just before 11 every night.Mazzolas

Skull Creek Greek

Gyros, anyone? This recent Greek addition to Steamboat is open till 11 on weekdays and 2:30 on weekends. It’s nothing fancy, but if you’re hungry for some spicy lamb, this is your nirvana.

The Scoop: 635 Lincoln Ave, 970.879.1339.

The Hungry Dog

Every town needs a hot dog stand, right? But this one’s actually well-run and scrumptious. The proprietor is from Chicago, so you’d be wise to try his Chicago Dog.

The Scoop: Open till 2 Tue-Sat, 635 Lincoln Ave,

Brooklyn’s Pizza

If you’ve got a hankering for a slice of New York style pie, Brooklyn’s is where it’s at. They also offer reasonably priced steak sandwiches, wings and Stromboli. Delivery is available, but their hours can be inconsistent.

The Scoop: Open every night till 1, 57 10th St, 970.871.1000.

Mazzola is the best restaurant in town for those that love classic Italian food or want to eat a slice of pizza with their beer. Located in the basement of the Hotel Bristol, Mazzola has all the markings of a cozy Italian restaurant, including the below street setting, noisy atmosphere, and dim lighting with red accents. Besides their excellent Italian dishes, Mazzola is also well-known for its happy hour which lasts from 5pm to 6pm. Sunpie’s Bistro

Finding a quiet, unpretentious bar where to relax after a day of skiing can be hard in a touristy town like Steamboat Springs. Fortunately, Sunpie’s Bistro has the right combination of good drinks, Cajun-themed food, a local crowd which gives it a divey bar feel, and great location right beside the river that makes for an enjoyable afternoon. During the happy hour, from 3 to 6 pm, visitors can enjoy $1 off alcoholic drinks, including their classic hurricanes, and inexpensive food like $1 tacos and bacon-wrapped jalapenos. The beer selection is great and includes brands like Sam Adams, Fat Tire, Dixie, and Dos Equis all of which are served ice cold.

The nights in Steamboat Springs can get pretty cold, especially during the winter. Luckily, music bars like Schmiggity have live music, a dance floor, and cheap drinks to keep you warm during the late hours. The only thing missing is you and your date to make for one hell of a night. The sitting in the bar is scarce, but the sound quality of the place is so good that you’ll want to stay on your feet anyway. The happy hour lasts from 7pm to 9 pm during which you can get $2-3 cold beers, rail drinks, and wine. Visitors can accompany their drinks with hot dogs, meatball sliders, and other simple appetizers that are both inexpensive and tasty.

Mahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill

Mahogany Ridge is a popular restaurant/bar and one of the best places to enjoy a late night Steamboat Springs happy hour. The place has a warm, cozy atmosphere that makes it a hot spot for both locals and tourists, but what really shines about Mahogany is its home-brewed beers. These come in different varieties, like Wheat Beer and Westwater Wheat, each of them full of flavor and served ice cold. The happy hour starts at 9:30pm and lasts until midnight, during which visitors can enjoy the excellent beers, cocktails, wines, and well drinks for half the normal price. Tasty $1 tapas, of which there is a wide variety, are available to accompany your drinks, with the chicken wings one being specially recommended by repeating diners.

Ski by Day, Boogie By Night in Steamboat Springs This February

Steamboat Springs Winter Wondergrass

Steamboat Springs Winter Wondergrass

The Winter WinterWonderGrass Festival Is Set To Bring Top Bluegrass Talent To Town February 23-26, 2017

Want your skiing with a side of pickin’? Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Sam Bush and Elephant Revival headline a terrific billing of bluegrass-based bands ready to take over Steamboat for four days in late February. With 7,000 people expected to attend, this promises to be a winter musical experience the likes of which Steamboat hasn’t seen in years.

The festival kicks off with a free concert in Gondola Plaza on Thursday, followed by an intimate performance and dinner with Leftover Salmon at Thunderhead lodge.

That weekend, the Knoll Lot near the base of the ski area will be transformed into a pickers paradise as 25 bluegrass bands of all flavors bring the twang from 1:00 to 10:30 each day except Sunday, which ends a bit earlier. In addition to the main stage, there will be three side stages that will allow you to hear the latest and greatest string talent up close and personal while you sip your favorite brew. When the concert ends, diehards can head downtown for even more bluegrass action at one of Steamboat’s several music venues.

But this weekend isn’t just about bluegrass; Colorado beer will also take center stage. Each day from 2:00-5:00, festival ticketholders will be treated to a beer tasting from a bevy of Colorado breweries, including Steamboat local favorites Butcherknife, Storm Peak, and Mountain Tap. Plus, you’ll find an expo village where you can browse through a bonanza of intriguing artisan creations, from artistic to culinary. Oh, and did we mention there’s heat? Yes, you’ll be able to warm up in various zones throughout the festival area as you party the day and night away.

Get In On The Action

Tickets for this weekend of musical mayhem are still on sale and currently go for $168 for three days of music and beer tastings each day.

BIG Deal:

If you purchase a festival ticket, another $198 gets you three days of unlimited access to the Steamboat Resort anytime from February 22 through February 27. That’s a significant discount off the regular price per day, so if you want to sloosh down the slopes of Steamboat by day and get your boogie on by night, this is a package deal you don’t want to pass up.

Over the past four years, WinterWonderGrass has made a name for itself as the winter bluegrass festival not to be missed. With its winning combo of top-tier bands and beer tastings from breweries large and small across Colorado, it’s become a mecca for bluegrass fans and beer enthusiasts throughout the west. For its fifth year, festival organizers decided to come to Steamboat  and add the slopes to the mix. This all adds up to make the 2017 iteration of WinterWonderGrass the experience of a lifetime. Come join the fun!

As you can imagine, lodging is going fast for these dates, so check availability, book your convenient condo, and plan to be in Steamboat in February for a stompin’ good time!
