Event Website David Stock conducts the world premiere of his piece, Eagle Girl, a Native American story modeled on the musical tradition of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. Andres Cardenes performs Alonso-Crespo's Concierto en tiempo de Tango, a work for violin and chamber ensemble commissioned by Mr. Cardenes. Berio's Folk Songs consist of arrangements of folk music from various countries with familiar lyrics such as "I wonder as I wander" and "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair."

The Mainstreet Market is entering its seventh year and has about 55 booths per week. The market is located on 6th Street at Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat Springs on Saturday’s throughout the summer. The Market is the perfect first stop and launching place for a day browsing in our local stores, eating in our restaurants, or listening to the live music on the courthouse lawn during the market.

Seminars at Steamboat - Perspectives on Immigration When & Where August 11, 2011 Time: 5-6:30 p.m.
Tamar Jacoby is known primarily for her writing on immigration-related issues.
A native of New York City, Ms. Jacoby graduated from Yale University in 1976, after which she became a staffer on the New York Review of Books. From 1981 to 1987 she served as a deputy editor of the op-ed page of The New York Times, and from 1987 to 1989 as a senior writer and justice editor at Newsweek. She has also been assistant to the editor at the New York Review of Books.
Her writing with regard to race relations and immigration has been published in numerous publications, including Commentary, Dissent, The Nation, The New Republic, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times Book Review, among other journals of political thought and newspapers of national or regional scope.

Event Website The Wild West Relay is a 200-mile distance team running relay race adventure in Colorado designed for runners of all abilities. The Eight Annual running of the Wild West Relay will be Friday - Saturday, August 12th - 13th, 2011.
This Colorado relay race begins by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, and finishes in the beautiful ski and summer resort town of Steamboat Springs. Held on open public roads, much of this very scenic and remote course runs through National Forests or on dirt roads. The route winds through Roosevelt, Medicine Bow, and Routt National Forests, and through small, mountain and ranching communities.

The Steamboat All Arts Festival is the newest and most collaborative event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is a four-day event that highlights the amazing arts and culture in the Yampa Valley while featuring nationally-renowned artists. The festival incorporates all aspects of the arts into one cohesive event including dance, vocal, musical, visual, literary and culinary arts. Experiential and educational workshops will be available all weekend and open to all levels.

97th Annual Routt County Fair When & Where August 18, 2011 - August 21, 2011 All Day
Event Website When it comes to history and tradition, few entities in Routt County can compare with the Routt County Fair held this August 18-21, 2011. Before there was a ski mountain, condos, vacation homes, youth baseball tournaments, mountain biking, kayaking and all the other things we have become known for, there were men and women who came to Routt County to carve livings out of this rough, mountainous terrain. They farmed. They ranched. They survived and laid the foundations for the communities we enjoy today. The fair rightfully honors the agriculture heritage and traditions of those settlers. Held on the same site since 1914, it is one of the longest-running events in the Routt County. Don’t miss the Demolition Derby on Friday, August 19th at 7:30.
Classic Car Cruise When & Where Downtown Steamboat Springs August 18, 2011 6 pm
Event Website Classic cars abound in Steamboat Springs. Collectors love to show off those cars by doing a fun cruise once a month during the summer on the third Thursday each month. Drivers gather at the Stockbridge Center on Lincoln Ave just past Lincoln Park about 6 pm. Anyone is welcome to join the group. The group will then cruise through downtown, up to and around the mountain area and back downtown to the Courthouse at 6th and Lincoln to park and show off their cars, usually around 7 pm. The 1.5k swim starts off in the picturesque Lake Catamount. Triathletes will then quickly transition to the 40k bike course with amazing views of the Yampa Valley and River! The 10k run course hugs Lake Catamount for a flat and fast route which finishes back at the Lake! Hang out post race in the grassy lawns and enjoy great prizes, raffles, awards, and food from our local sponsors of Steamboat! For over 100 years Steamboat Springs, Colorado has celebrated Independence Day in true western fashion, with events for the entire family. Kick back in your boots at several community events including a community all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, the annual Yampa Valley Bank parade down Lincoln Avenue, Pioneer Days Block Party featuring a free community concert and Root Beer Floats for the kids, evening rodeos, and the Ranch Rodeo where local ranches compete against one another in the Old West tradition.
Join us for a breathtaking fireworks display at historic Howelsen Hill which holds the distinction of being one of the country's oldest ski areas in continuous use. This nighttime extravaganza will begin at dark, roughly 9:30 P.M. For the best viewing location, you can get front row seats at the base of Howelsen Hill. The Steamboat Springs FREE Summer Concert Series is a Steamboat summer tradition with five free concerts throughout the summer. Come down to the Howelsen Hill Amphitheater, in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs, for a night of FREE live music. Don’t forget your picnic blanket, chair and dancing shoes!
The free concerts start around 5:00 p.m. with an opening band and then the main act to follow. There will be food vendors, kids activities and beer sales at the concert. No alcohol or dogs can be brought into the concert.

31st Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo From: July 09, 2011 - July 10, 2011 Where: Various locations see schedule 6:00am
The only downside of the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival in Steamboat Springs Colorado is that you have to get out of bed before the roosters crow . . . .the upside of getting out of bed that early is that the you get to see the most beautiful sunrise of the year! The 2011 Hot Air Balloon Rodeo takes place on JUly 9th and 10th.
**DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA.
Meet early at the launch field and watch the preperation and take off of these amazing and colorful balloons! Approximately 9/10 of a mile south of Walton Creek Road on Highway 40. 35565 South Highway 40 the property is better known as the Bald Eagle Lake or Water Ski Lake. There is no public parking at the actual event.
*FREE TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED FROM THE MEADOWS PARKING LOT. There will be vendors selling souvenirs, coffee and breakfast items on the launch field so plan to come on down and check out the balloons inflating.
*Parking is FREE for the Saturday and Sunday morning. Park at the Meadows parking lot on Pine Grove Road. Transportation from the Meadows Lot to the event is also FREE. Due to the event's convenient location on the edge of town, we encourage spectators walk, ride their bikes or take the shuttle from the hotel or lodge. There are no dogs allowed at this event anywhere.
After you have watched the balloons float up and fly away (and taken some awesome photos) meet everyone at West Lincoln Park for Steamboat's largest arts and crafts festival. Art in the Park takes place on Saturday from 9-5 P.M. and on Sunday from 9-4 P.M.

Art in the Park is free to the public and features, nearly 140 artist vendors, live entertainment, food vendors, and an interactive children's art area. This popular and successful event takes place on July 9 and 10 over Rainbow Weekend, which combines with the Pro Rodeo and the Balloon Rodeo to produce a weekend of fun and excitement. Around 10,000 people attend our festival located in West Lincoln Park, on the west end of downtown Steamboat Springs in beautiful Northwest Colorado.

Two faculty artists from the Oberlin Conservantory of Music - Angela Cheng and Alvin Chow - come to the Strings stage to perform a duo paino recital. Both have won numerous individual competitions and are active soloists, chamber musicians, and as a husband and wife piano duo. The program, a mix of four hands at one piano and four hands at two pianos comes from the plethora of French music in this genre.

The Tour de Steamboat is a century+ non competitive road ride that starts and ends in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO. The initial event was hosted as a race by the legendary frame builder, Kent Eriksen, in the late 1970’s. The event was resurrected in 2004 as a non competitive road ride by Kent’s wife, Katie Lindquist and partner Brad Cusenbary. In 2008, Katie and Brad decided to turn the event into a benefit ride to not only raise money but awareness to the Sunshine Kids Foundation.

Triple Crown Girl's Fastpitch World Series July 18-23, 2011
2011 will be the 15th year of the TCS World Series. The 18U World Series returns to Steamboat Springs after being in Park City, Utah the last 7 years.. In 2010 45 participated in the 18U. We anticipate 60 teams in 2011. Teams participating in the World Series come from Triple Crown qualifying tournaments that are managed by Triple Crown or one of their franchise territory owners, or awarded At Large Berths from state that do not have a qualifying event system. Most of the tournament teams come from California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico but almost every state West of the Mississippi is represented.
