With temperatures that tend to hover at or below freezing, winter in Steamboat is the perfect time to warm yourself up with some robust cocktails. And whether you like to sample the latest spirited imaginings of Steamboat’s finest mixologists or you prefer the time-tested cocktail staples, we’ve got you covered.
Sample Some of The Best Cocktails in Steamboat as You Walk Through Downtown
The stroll starts on 11th Street and eventually makes its way down to just short of 3rd Street, so you’ll have plenty of time to walk off your indulgences. Most of these establishments open their doors at 4 p.m. and have happy hours that start at that time, so we’d recommend you get started around then.

The Laundry Restaurant
So named because of the fact that it occupies a historic laundry building, this is an airy place with plenty of exposed brick. However, you can find a few nooks that will perfectly fit your party.
The inspired cocktail list here runs the gamut from New Yorker Cocktail (Bullet rye whiskey, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, dash of grenadine) to The Battle Of New Orleans (Old Forester Bourbon, Absinthe, Anisette, sugar, peychaud and orange bitters ) and everywhere in between; they even show the source of their recipes for your curiosity.
Come in at happy hour for some discounts on chef’s-choice small plates and certain cocktails.

If you’re a traditionalist, this is your spot. Harwigs fees that moderate pricing is just as importnat to the experience as is the extent of the wine list. The wine list is broken down categorically accoding to appellation, vintage, and winery. California and France have the largest prepresentaion because of food parings, popularity and availability.
Note: Harwigs is widely thought to have Steamboat’s best oysters.

Tequila anyone? Though it’s usually thought of as a summer drink, Todd behind the bar here knows how to create a concoction that will warm you up in the winter. Want to stop in for a marg, shot or maybe a quick bite? Post up under the heaters at the outside burrito bar. Otherwise, grab a seat at the boisterous inside bar and see what’s on offer.

Previously known for their food and wine, Mambo has recently juiced up their cocktail selection and now boasts a mélange of flavorful treats you won’t soon forget, all the way from the Melone Frizzante (Uncle Val’s Gin, Lillet rose, Lime Juice, Watermelon Puree, tonic, and thyme, to the decadent Caffe E Crema Martini, (espresso, Frangelico, Coole Swan Dairy Cream Liqueur, St. George all purpose Vodka, chocolate bitters, coffee bean).
Specialty cocktails such as those are half off at happy hour, which ends at 5:30, so plan accordingly. If you’re hungry, happy hour includes half-priced pizzas and $2 off appetizers in addition to significant drink discounts.
