Steamboat Springs Gondola Information & Things You Need To Know
Published on 11/05/2020 by Brad Luth
Are you looking for a family-friendly, relaxing activity to add to your trip here to Steamboat Springs? There is no better way to enjoy the breathtaking views of Steamboat than by the Steamboat Springs Gondola!
Take in the stunning, panoramic views on the ride 9,100 feet up Mt. Werner, soaring over the Yampa Valley in a fully-enclosed gondola that holds up to eight passengers. Once at the top of the mountain, you can ski back down or rest and take in the magnificent landscape. No matter the season, you will also be able to take breathtaking photos from the top of the mountain. You may even consider scheduling a family photo for next holiday card! This is an activity that will make your vacation in Steamboat Springs very memorable, and that the whole family can enjoy.
Once at the top of the mountain, you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere while having a drink or a bite to eat. There are several fantastic options for brunch, western BBQ, or a family-oriented evening of fondue at Thunderhead Lodge. If you need recommendations for a specific cuisine or atmosphere, please feel free to ask! Some restaurants may require a reservation or host special events, depending on the season. Your gondola ticket affords you a discount at the restaurants on the mountain top, and at some retail shops.
For both skiers and non-skiers, there are many other activities to enjoy at the top of the mountain, such as guided snowshoe tours (no ski experience or ability required), ski lessons with renowned Olympic medalists and instructors, free ski tours, and weekday nature tours of the mountain with the Yampatika Educational Partnership. During the winter, moonlit snowshoe and dinner tours are also offered, which includes the Gondola ride. Some of these activities require a Gondola ticket or an advance reservation. If you are looking for something in particular for your group, feel free to ask us.
In the summertime, we highly recommend riding the gondola back down to watch the sunset and moon rise for a relaxing, romantic view of Steamboat Springs. The lights of Steamboat Springs are beautiful at night from the top of the mountain. Your gondola ticket is valid all day, allowing you to take your time and enjoy multiple rides throughout the day, if you wish.

How Do I Get To The Gondola?
The boarding location for the Gondola is in Gondola Square, in the heart of the Steamboat Springs ski area, and close to the vacation rentals and retail shopping.
Although the Gondola is intended for foot passengers, you may board the Gondola with ski boots or poles. There is a place to store skis and snowboards on the outside of the Gondola, if needed.
The Gondola is one of the area’s most popular activities in both summer and winter. More than a gondola ride, the activity offers access to stunning natural views, restaurants, mountain tours, and so much more. It’s also an activity that you can enjoy over and over again while you are in Steamboat Springs. Safe for kids and adults of all ages, winter athletes and non-skiers, the Gondola is the most enjoyable route to many of the other charming and exciting activities that Steamboat Springs has in store for you.
We highly recommend the Gondola ride as a must-do during your vacation with us. If you need more information on accessing One Steamboat Place or Gondola Square from your specific vacation rental, we will be happy to assist you in any way that we can!
