Wellness enthusiasts will love the high-end facilities offered at Old Town Hot Springs, an expansive and beautifully maintained venue right outside of downtown Steamboat. More than your typical yoga studio, the Hot Springs Center offers a wide array of fitness, aquatics, and massage service, in addition to their pristine hot springs. Yoga classes are a regular occurrence on the schedule, and there’s nothing like working up a sweat in practice and then relaxing in the natural hot spring after class.

Steamboat Springs Yoga Events

Yoga enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that Steamboat is home to its very own yoga festival: Steamboat Movement. This non-profit annual event takes place in August and draws yogis from far and wide to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect.

Over the course of a three-day weekend, yoga enthusiasts are invited to take part in various yoga and meditation practices, celebrate music and movement with live entertainment, and participate in various events and workshops led by national teachers, athletes, artists, and more. Yogis can make new friends and celebrate their love of the practice while enjoying nature’s majesty in the great Steamboat Springs outdoors.

Learn more about Movement Fest here.

Outside of Steamboat Movement, many local studios host special events throughout the year. You can also find many outdoor yoga events, like Yoga in the Park (at Bonforte Park) and Yoga on the Green (at the Yampa River Botanic Park) in the summer.

And, many local breweries host yoga events where the price includes a pint. Storm Peak Brewing was the original brewery to hop on the yoga bandwagon and is a great spot to enjoy a tasty adult beverage (or two!) after your practice.

You won’t have to look far to find a great class or workshop to meet your needs!

Tips for Yoga in Steamboat Springs

Here are a few tips for making the most of your mountain yoga adventure:

  • Pack your gear. Of course, you might not be able to fly with your mat, and there are rentals available. But don’t forget to pack comfortable clothes and have towels and water bottles handy.
  • Check the schedule and book your class or workshop in advance. As an active community, many studios are popular among locals and classes might be full!
  • Keep the altitude in mind! Steamboat Springs sits at ~6,800 feet. Drink plenty of water and listen to your body; it’s ok to take breaks and enjoy an extra-long Savasana.

A healthy body and a joyful heart make for a relaxing and memorable mountain retreat. Pack your mat and incorporate the practice into your vacation itinerary—your inner Shanti will thank you.

Namaste!
