The only downside of the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival in Steamboat Springs Colorado is that you have to get out of bed before the roosters crow . . . .the upside of getting out of bed that early is that the you get to see the most beautiful sunrise of the year!

Steamboat Spring's first mountain bike race of the season takes place at Marabou Ranch today. This course is typically closed to the public, but the past week it has been open to all and the locals have definitely been taking advantage of it! The 12 mile course snakes around one of the most scenic areas in the valley and offers incredible view of the Ski Mountain, Elk river, Flat tops, Hahns Peak, Buffalo Pass and Sand Mountain. The Spring runoff has everything lush and green and makes for some spectacular scenery.

When: Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. today. Children’s race begins at 5:30 p.m. with adult races at 6 p.m.

Cost: Day-of registration is $26 for adults and $16 for children
Prediction for fastest time: a dude named Barkley.

The new PURE Pass provides six days of skiing and riding for $499 and fifteen days for $799, when purchased during the pre-season time frame. In addition, the PURE pass, which replaces the Super Value Pass, enables pass holders to reload their individual pass with special $39 days throughout the season.
Steamboat allows guests the option to lock in these prices with a $99 down payment now with the remainder of the balance due September 15, 2010. Pre-season prices on all pass products are guaranteed through Aug 15th, 2010 and are available for purchase online or through Steamboat Central Reservations®, 800.922.2722. The 48th winter season is expected to run from November 24, 2010 through April 10, 2011.
You can also upgrade your pass to include unrestricted skiing and riding at Winter Park for only $50!
