If You’re On The Prowl Passed 10, Here’s Where To Chow:
You’re not in the city anymore. I’m sure most of us Steamboat residents have said this to ourselves a time or two as we struggled to find some sustenance beyond the seemingly universal closing time of 10 pm for most restaurants in town. But if you should find yourself out and about and looking for grub, let me save you some time with a list of restaurants and food stands still serving both during the week and on the weekend. Some even have late-night happy hours to save you money on both food and drink. And though pizza is definitely on the list, it’s not the only game in town.
Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill
Among the culinary leaders in Steamboat, Mahogany Ridge offers a late-night happy hour every night that will fit the bill nicely. It features half-priced appetizers such as fish tacos, shrimp and grits, meat and veggie skewers, pretzels, buffalo fingers and more. If you’re in the mood to wash your meal down with a cocktail or beer, you’ll enjoy $2 beers and half-priced well drinks.

If you’re closer to the mountain, why not stop in for some of Steamboat’s tastiest pizza cooked in a brick oven – at a substantial discount! Slopeside’s happy hour runs from 10 till around midnight every night, and all pizzas are just $7. They’ve recently expanded their tap list, and during happy hour, beers are just three bucks. This makes for a fulfilling end to a long day.

Mazzola’s Italian Diner
Craving pizza downtown? Here’s a gourmet option that’s sure to hit the spot. After 9, this iconic Italian restaurant below the Hotel Bristol serves up hot pizzas and honkin’ calzones the size of your head. Mazzola’s also delivers until just before 11 every night.

Skull Creek Greek
Gyros, anyone? This recent Greek addition to Steamboat is open till 11 on weekdays and 2:30 on weekends. It’s nothing fancy, but if you’re hungry for some spicy lamb, this is your nirvana.

The Hungry Dog
Every town needs a hot dog stand, right? But this one’s actually well-run and scrumptious. The proprietor is from Chicago, so you’d be wise to try his Chicago Dog.

If you’ve got a hankering for a slice of New York style pie, Brooklyn’s is where it’s at. They also offer reasonably priced steak sandwiches, wings and Stromboli. Delivery is available, but their hours can be inconsistent.
The Scoop: Open every night till 1, 57 10th St, 970.871.1000.
